What We're Listening To

So, now that radio has reached a new low, and I get annoyed with the constant replaying of annoying audio clips that weren't funny the first time, I've "gotten with the times" and started downloading podcasts. I've taken up the highly recommended by kyp: "Filmspotting" as well as the highly recommended by mm3 (older brother matt): "Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me"

The NPR weekly news quiz which is absolutely fantastic. It features an ever rotating panel of 3 which on occasion features former Daily Show correspondent Mo Rocca. Regardless, the show delivers pretty much none stop laughs, and a little bit of education, and keeps you up to date with what's going on in the world.... like Elliot Spitzer :P

The other major promising podcast I've been listening to is an oldie by goodie, none other than Revision3's "Diggnation". A weekly video podcast featuring Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht. The dynamic duo share their thoughts on the top stories from the week off the social news website http://www.digg.com/. But more than often we get to listen to them get side-tracked and talk about the most random things they can think of... such as being locked-IN kevin's apartment or perhaps... zombie dogs.
If you're looking for something good to listen to while driving... working... or pretty much doing anything, check out Diggnation and Wait Wait Don't Tell Me. Both are available through the itunes music store.
You can also check them out at http://www.diggnation.com/ and www.npr.org/programs/waitwait/.

Red Sox Rock Tokyo

In their game today (6am Boston Time) against the Oakland Atheletics in Tokyo... the Red Sox seemed to struggle, and in true Red Sox fashion staged a come back in the top of the 10th, defeating the A's 6-5. Go Sox!
But what's the real story surrounding this game? That's right, the fact that Boston bars today were open at 5:30am, and while they promised Mayor Menino that no alcohol would be served until the game had ended... who really thinks that happened?

Hunt for the Sum of Clear and Present Patriot Games

this just in... paramount pictures is looking to try and revive jack ryan, made famous by Harrison Ford, with help by Alec Baldwin and with a punch in the face by Ben Affleck (as in he ruined the character).

The bad ass CIA? FBI? government agent from Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger and HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER (Hey, Ryan, be careful what you shoot at. Most things in here don't react too well to bullets)

And who are they getting to spearhead the project? Good ol' Sam Raimi.

...yes... spiderman3's sam raimi, we can now look forward to a 10 minute montage of emo-jack walking down the street and winking at girls...
...
...
here's how they can fix it:

In the middle of the scene where tobey, or jake or whoever sam thinks will be perfect in the role, is walking down the street a bull whip appears out of the corner of the screen and smacks the bitch out of the way... and indy jumps up and punches him in the face...

no one will ever be harrison ford.... EVER.

Doggy Tranq's

So, I've heard this commercial several times driving into work in the morning, and sometimes when i'm leaving work... and it always just like surprises me. It starts with a woman's voice talking about how their dog (which sounds like job the first time she says it) turns their world upside down... then out of no where this little kid voice just says, "moooommm he's jumping on meeee"

so... right off the bat, i'm generally confused because i think she's talking about a job and it apparently jumps on her kid.

But then it goes on to discuss how they've "tried everything, obedience classes, doggy daycare, even electric collars" but nothing worked etc etc... until they discovered "Poise" (as in... Pois- On) It's a pill that they feed their dog... and there's two formulas... an "instant" for when you want your dog to behave immediately. It even comes with a handy dandy delivery system. And then they long-term pill, to get rid of pesky habits like, barking, chewing, digging, running, eating, breathing, and that darn desire to live.

Poise... for when you want a dog as a piece of furniture.

Irish Blessing

May those who love us, love us; and those who don't love us, may God turn their hearts; and if He doesn't turn their hearts, may he turn their ankles so we'll know them by their limping.
