Squiggly-Biggily

Allow me to tell ye the story of ole' squiggly-biggily. Once a long while ago, on a tuesday a man went to sea. A fisherman from a small town in hawaii, all he knew was the sweet smell of the ocean, the sting of the sun, and the pull of fish in his nets.

He awoke one morning with an eerie feeling. He brushed it off and gathered his supplies and went to his boat. As he paddled out to the depths he began preparing his net. He cast it over the right side as he had through-out his life. When suddenly a voice in his head told him to cast the other way. Casting to the right, suddenly there was a great weight in his nets. He struggled to pull in his catch... when he finally got him on the boat he was shocked at what appeared to be a man standing at the prow of his small fishing boat.

The man spoke to him in a deep voice he said, "my name is squiggly-biggily... i have asperations to become an icon of pop culture. I wish to question famous people as to where they came from, and get to the depths.... of their character."

20 years later after much training and grooming from the fisherman Squiggly-biggily changed his named to James Lipton.

Cheat of a Post

Ok, so it is late Sunday night, I have work in the morning, but basically... i'm tired of there being absolutely NO update what so ever on the blog... therefore... I'm taking it upon myself to post at least something.

Kyp and I wrapped filming on Swerve today, hopefully that'll be hitting vimeo pretty soon.  But who knows, you never know what will have to be re-filmed and touched up in post-production.  But onto something different... something we haven't mentioned yet... and something we probably SHOULD mention:

LOST.

that's right... it's back... and it's good.  Using somewhat disorienting flash-forwards mixed in with it's traditional flash-backs LOST is gearing up for it's third to last (fairly sure of this) season.  It's got everything with loved: love triangles, creepy bug-eyed bad guys, open ended plots, and of course... more fan-boy blogsters than you can s
hake a stick at.  While this season is still shaping up to be strong, carrying on from last year's (in the opinion of this humble blogger) AMAZING-STUPENDOUS-FANTASTIC season finale, there are a few points that have just left us wanting more.  We've grown to love the big build up in the music leading to *bump* LOST.  so it was nice to see at least this week they realized this and put the "surprise" earlier, and just used the ending to close on a very emotional scene.

in summary: watch LOST

Across the Pond

So, our good friend Jill is heading over to Oxford for a little quality British time. Naturally... she'll have a mission... or a quest if you will.

Here is the list that Kyp and I have made for her:

1. Jill looking taller than Big Ben
2. Jill trying to make a Royal Guard Laugh
3. Holding the London "Eye" in the palm of her hand
4. Doing the "Silly Walk" in the middle of a British road
5. Having tea and cucumber sandwich or crumpet (note: there must be a clock, pictured, signifying that it is, in fact, tea time)
6. Jill Hi-Fiving a wax celebrity at Madam Trousseau (notice the bold
7. Jill minding the gap (we have to be able to look at the pic and go. oh!.. she's minding the gap)
8. Jill in Piccadilly Circus doing something Circus-y
9. Jill in Trafalgah Sq. posing as Napoleon. (and she better be as short as him in the pic)
10. Jill driving a British car.

as a note: Since number 2 is "so touristy" we've given Jill the option to substitute Recreating a scene from Harry Potter as number 2... extra points if she can cite the book, chapter and page of the scene.
good luck and God speed Jill

Mark's Oscars Reaction

Let's just get this out of the way... Ellen Page got robbed. I'm not too sore about this, because I've heard amazing things about La Vie En Rose (Life in Pink)... however, Juno will forever hold a special place in my heart.

Anyway, as far as Best Picture, and the Male Acting categories there were no surprises. Daniel Day Lewis was no contest, and the same with Javier. Don't get me wrong there were some other fantastic performances, but really... when it came down to it, these two men had the performances of the decade!

As for the women, Tilda Swinton came up big, and I think even she was surprised! Congrats to her. This is the first time since the 60's where the four acting oscars all went to foreign actors.

Bourne picked up a few sound awards and cinematography, and I can't agree with those, while yes the sound editing in the films were good, I disagree that it should've taken the awards.

However, the HIGHLIGHT of the evening... is unquestionably the performance of "Falling Slowly" by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova of Once. If you're a member of digg, search for it on digg and digg it (that's a lot of diggs in one sentence) and let's get it to the front page.
