HD DVD is dead. Long Live Blu-Ray

Being a semi-early adopter of HD DVD (I've had the HD DVD drive for the 360 for a year) I saddens me to report that HD DVD is dead. Toshiba, HD DVD's main backer, announced that it is going to halt production of the next gen format.

Believe it or not this is a good thing. It's nice to know that there is only one format now. Soon all movies will be put out on Blu-Ray and consumers won't be confused as to which they should buy. High Def home video will finally become main stream. Let us rejoice with all 1080 pixels.

V is for Vendetta, but also VICTORY!!!

Ok, so... Surgery is done!  My arm is healing well, not too much pain so far, but i'm still under the affect of the anesthesia... good times.  The nurse who helped me was awesome, Val and I were able to joke around with her and stuff, which helped to keep me calm.  I must admit I don't remember the surgery (which I'm thankful for) and the immediate after time of the surgery, however I was only put semi-under, and woke up quickly and have been awake all day, I lost an hour versus the 12 during my wisdom teeth.  I'm not looking forward to waking up tomorrow... it's gonna be quite painful... the doctor warned me.  They gave me some decent painkillers, we'll see how those work out.  I was thankful to have my best friend/roommate Val there, she kept me calm and joking around leading up to the surgery.

Some highlights of the day:
(the nurse is swabbing me with a tube with a cotton ball at the end)
Val- what's that?
Me- it's like rubbing alcohol in like a crack tube... ... wait
Nurse- Yeah, great, piercings and crack... you kids are crazy!

Nurse noticing Val's "growly" piercing: TIME OUT! what is that?! do you have something stuck in your teeth?
Val- Oh, not that's my piercing
Nurse- Come with me
(at this point I kinda lost consciousness again, but she took Val out and showed all the other nurses.)

Thanks to the nurse... I'll keep the blog updated to my recovery :)

Movie Excitement: Charlie Bartlett

Alright, what do you get when you take a high school kid who doesn't really fit in and is victim to over protective parents who send him to a therapist, then mix in his desire to help fellow classmates while attending a high school which drive him nuts? Charlie Bartlett... that's what you get. I have to admit, I thought this movie had already come and gone from theaters... I in fact added it to my netflix quene... wondering when it would be coming out on DVD. The film stars Anton Yelchin known for his role in Alpha Dogg, and playing the song of the protaganist in the Showtime Original series "Huff" (Showtime? HBO? I dunno). It looks to be a funny story following the high-schooler who decides to open his own psychiatrist office in the boy's bathroom, and uses his own therapist to prescribe him the medications for his "patients".

The story seems good, and with what I've seen of Anton, the acting looks promising. Also making appearances are Robert Downey Jr. and Barrack Obama.

Just kidding about Obama
