Her previous work as a stripper makes sense to the underlying theme of the movie:
"Be in High School, get pregnant, have a child, give it up, go back to your life. Just 40 weeks of unpleasantness and then you can return."
I kind of take issue with that. But whatever. I guess I'm just... wait for it.... old.
